Entry 2 - 7.3.2024
Since I now sit on Smaug levels of coin (by my standards anyway) I figured I should start grinding out Kappa tasks again.
I started out with finishing the Tarkov shooter questline. I started the night out with 1/5 of my PMC shots from 45+ meters out for part 7. I decided that Woods would be my best bet for this.
My first raid started out in a panic. Almost immediately out of black screen I started taking PMC fire from the UN roadblock. I returned a couple of shots with my scoped Mosin to no effect and retreated to the tank pit. Both arms blacked out by the surprise attack at spawn.
I healed and headed to a rock overlooking the military camp. I waited for my prey. Soon after, an unsuspecting PMC wandered by the fringes of the camp. I took my shot. Dead on. Kill was from 150 meters out. I checked my task list to verify the kill.
To my horror, I discovered that the kill didn't count. Not because I didn't meet the distance requirement. Not because I wasn't using a bolt-action rifle. But because the rifle needed to be suppressed. And there I was with my circumcised Mosin, accomplishing absolutely nothing.
I moved started sprinting over to Outskirts. I checked for Shturman on the way to see if I could at least make the raid a little more exciting, but he was nowhere to be found. Once at Outskirts, I sat on the rock overlooking Scav House.
And of course, 4 unsuspecting PMCs were in the distance. I downed all of them from over 150 meters away, but none counted towards my task. I extracted to try again.
I've never been a big fan of the Mosin, but it was the first bolt-action rifle that caught my eye in my stash. I decided to sell it off to Fence, and instead brought in a suppressed DVL for attempt two. I was able to complete the task that raid.
The next task I had my eyes set on was Tough Guy, a task from Jaeger. It was simple enough, kill three scavs on woods without using any medication. I figured it would be simple enough to bring in a scoped weapon, find my three, and quickly extract before further conflict.
On paper, it was a simple task. Not so simple when you're being an absolute idiot. My first try started off perfectly. I spawned on the fringes of Scav Town and was able to quickly extinguish two scavs. I still needed my third, and so I moved to Eastern Rocks. It was a little risky, knowing that PMCs also cover that area, but I thought I'd be able to get a quick distance kill, then retreat back to Scav Town and extract out of Vehicle.
I found a lone scav by the barrel cache jammed in the rocks. I stood about 20 meters from him and took my shot. Miss. Miss. Miss. In my recklessness, the scav blackened one of my arms and left me with a heavy bleed. No matter, my fourth shot hit and he dropped.
At this point hit a calok to stop the heavy bleed. What I was unaware of was that I cannot use medications until I turn the task in. As soon as I stopped the bleed, the task failed. Frustrated, I made my way back to Scav Town to extract and try it again.
I loaded into Woods once more to try the task. The scenario was similar again. Killed two scavs in Scav Town, and began moving to Eastern Rocks. I found my third and killed him. However, I didn't get the notification that the subtask was complete. In fact, I couldn't find the task in my list at all.
This is when I discovered that, upon failing this task, you must accept it again from Jaeger. Livid, I once again extracted out of car. I finally completed the task on the third attempt, when it should have taken me only one.
Relieved at the completion of Tough Guy, I went back to working on Drip Out part 1. For this task, I needed to kill 100 raiders, and turn in 50 pieces of WARTECH gear. I already had my 100 raiders killed, thanks in large part to the tank battery event in Customs. I still had 12 WARTECH gear to turn in.
After 5 runs in labs, I had what I needed and completed the task. I happily purchased the Bear black shirt outfit from Ragman shortly thereafter. Not a bad night of tasking at all.
